February 20, 2013

We introduced our new IB unit today, within the "How the World Works" trans disciplinary theme!
Central idea:
Scientific discoveries increase humans' ability to expand.
Lines of Inquiry:
*Science influences humans.
*Increased information provides humanity with greater choice.
*As ideas develop, it leads to expanded application.

We began by exploring lots of ordinary inventions around our classroom, and then moved into magnets, which is a major science subject during this unit!  If any parents deal with magnets professionally, we would love it if you shared more with us in class--send me an email if that's the case!

Homework:
1) Math (8-2): p. 209 all, p. 210 odds.   Redo unit 7 tests if below 85%!
2) Read 20 minutes & sign!
3) Missing work!
4) Sign/return progress reports (if you haven't already)

Items of Business:

*Class Store: If you have any extra soda, candy, trinkets, jewelry, or toys that you would like to donate to class store, please send it with your child! We would like to do one more often to serve as a motivator for positive behavior!

*We would always welcome donations of gerbil food for our class pets!
